The Tribulation Force – Book Review

                In the second book in the Left Behind series, Tribulation Force, we continue following the lives of those left behind after the rapture. Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, and Buck Williams have all become followers of Christ and along with other new followers have committed to fighting off the Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia and introducing as many people as they can to Christ.

                Throughout this book Buck and Chloe have married, and Buck and Raymond have each taken their own assignments in finding the truth.  Much like the first book this one will keep you involved in the story and characters, there is some time that is unaccounted for within the book, but overall has set up a great story filled with study of the prophecies and how they could come about.  The Tribulation Force allows you to see the characters grow in their walk with Christ during a time where the world is in chaos and their search for the truth.

                The Left Behind books will keep you entertained and wanting more, although some of it is unbelievable they are great stories to read.  It would be wise to remember that these books are also the work of two authors and how they see the book of Revelation coming to pass. Take these as a grain of salt as only one interpretation and be sure to read the book of Revelation and studying the book yourself before committing the Left Behind Series as how things will turn out.

      In the conclusion of Francine Rivers Marta’s Legacy Series we continue to learn about Oma, Hildemara Rose her daughter Carolyn and daughter May Flower Rose. Rivers continues to weave a story that links you to the characters but also teaches you lessons about your everyday life. Every family has the traits they pass from each generation to the next, sometimes unknowingly and sometimes we choose to pretend to not see what is happening.

     Rivers tackles these things head on, showing that through generations families can remain disconnected but it does not have to stay that way. Relying on Jesus, we need to let go of our pride and conquer those things head on. The things that tear a family a part do not need to be passed down but repaired, with Jesus there is no reason to let the hurts and pains of one generation to continue on to the next.

     Francine Rivers has created a story of redemption and forgiveness we can all learn from. This book will not only captivate your attention but encourage you to open the line of communication with your entire family.

Above all trust in the slow work of God. We are quite naturally impatient in everything to reach the end without delay. We should like to skip the intermediate stages. We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new only God could say what this new spirit gradually forming within you will be. Give our Lord the benefit of believing that His hand is leading you, and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.

What if you were the one left behind? – Book Review

     Left Behind By: Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins

     Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have teamed up to create this 12 book series about the return of Christ. The first book in this series, Left Behind, a New York Times best seller introduces you to Rayford Steele, an airline pilot and Buck Williams a newspaper writer and their experiences  of witnessing the rapture and realizing the truth behind the millions of people disappearing.  Rayford Steele has lost his wife and son, both devout Christians and while Rayford attended church occassionaly he did not understand and was flirting around with one of the airline attendents.  Not until his son and wife disappear leaving him and his daughter behind does he start to realize what has happened. 

            The first book in the series follows both Buck Williams and Rayford Steele as they search for the truth behind the disappearances and to find Christ and spread His love before it is to late.  But with so much happening in the world will they be able to hold on to their faith and be able to introduce Christ to their family and friends that were left behind as well as avoiding the anti-christ?

            This book will keep you reading from start to finish and is a good work of fiction that will keep you interested in the story and invested in the characters.

     Matthew Barnett’s The Cause Within You will reshape your life and what you are doing.  So many people are not happy with what they are doing, or have thrown in the towel on life.  This book will have you re-evaluating the things that you are doing and remind you that we are all called to serve other peoples needs.  Once we see that we are making the first step to finding our cause.  

     While reading this book I had the opportunity to hear Matthew Barnett speak and was blown away by the passion he has for the Dream Center and for serving the people of LA, somehow Barnett has captured that passion and turned it into a book.  Barnett fills his book with sound advice on how to find your cause, and the easiest way to do that is to start serving. Find the thing that excites you and find a way to share that with others.  

     I highly recommend this book for everyone, even if you have found your cause, this book will give you ideas on how to get through the difficult times, when you feel that your cause is getting the best of you, to refocus on God’s plan and the cause He has placed with in you and the people you are serving along the way.  

I also recommend reading this book alongside Max Lucado’s Cure for the Common Life

Her Mother’s Hope: Francine Rivers – Book Review

Her Mother’s Hope A 2011 Retailers Choice Award Winner!!

        Francine Rivers has an amazing ability to craft a story where you feel emotionally connected to each character and where you hope that the story will never end.  Her Mother’s Hope takes you through the childhood of Marta and her experiences of growing up in Switzerland and yearning for something more to do with her life, and eventually follows her to California where she has settled and raised a family.  In fear for her daughter and the similarities she possesses with Marta’s own sister she pushes her daughter Hildemara Rose away not realizing the rift that grows between them.
        Marta’s life had been filled with so much heartache and struggle that she believes that only the strong survive, and while Hildemara comes off as shy reserved girl, Marta tries to push her hoping she will not fail.  In a turn of events Marta and Hildemara are forced back together when they find that they need one another and they must learn from each other and realize they may have misunderstood each other the whole time.
        This was only my first experience with a Francine Rivers novel and I am amazed at the quality of the stories that she writes. I tend to avoid historical books however Rivers has created a story where her characters jump off the page and make you feel as if you have known them forever. 


The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven – Book Review

There are no words to describe this book.  The miracles that flow through the lives of Alex and Kevin Malarkey are amazing.  The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven is the story of Alex Malarkey, who at the age of six was in a horrible car accident that left him in coma for 2 months.  Through all the struggles and medical needs, God worked through Alex in numerous miracles.  Alex’s survival was only the first of many of the little boy who awoke from coma to reveal the miraculous story of how he was in heaven through that time.

This story will give you goosebumps, make you cry and bring you tons of joy and reminds you that God uses all people, the old and the young, the rich and the poor.  This book will remind you that when there is a need in your life He will meet those needs in ways that you would have never expected.

People claim that miracles are a thing of the past, and that they no longer happen, or they ignore that the supernatural is happening and that God is moving today. This book will push all those doubts out of your mind.  By the end of this book you will know that the Holy Spirit is moving right now and that greater things are happening.
