The final installment has arrived. Kenna and Vee have been separated. The people of Doon have been spread between Doon and Alloway, Doonians are missing and the Witch of Doon has taken over, and she has bigger plans to ruin Doon.

With the final story from the Doon series from Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon. Since the start of this series I have loved it, part of it may stem from my love of musical theatre and for Brigadoon in general but I love how two authors have come together to collaborate and create such a great series. With twists and turns at every page turn you wont be able to put this book down. Forever Doon continues the story of our favorite characters as they attempt to rescue Doon and bring some new characters along for the ride. I highly recommend this book.

Shame, we have all experienced it, it comes into our lives without being invited, it binds us, and creates a power over us. Through this book, Caine takes us on her personal journey of finding freedom and breaking through the shame. Unashamed is a phenomenal book that uses the Bible to affirm that we were called to live in freedom and not in shame.

The Four Dimensions of Extraordinary Leadership By: Jenni Catron

The 4 Dimensions of Extraordinary Leadership: The Power of Leading from your Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength

By: Jenni Catron

Lately I have been reading a lot of books on leadership, and this is definitely one that is at the top of my list. Most leadership books have a tendency to come from a male perspective specific to a work environment. Catron approaches the topic of leadership in a completely different way. She uses biblical truth and focuses on 4 different parts of leadership through the lens of heart, soul, mind and strength. Catron uses these dimensions to help define leadership styles and allow you to realize which of them you naturally operate from.

Through the 4 Dimensions of Extraordinary Leadership Catron makes use of real life stories to show what these leadership styles look like in action and how they can change how you approach and/or respond to situations as they arise. For those of you interested in honing in on your leadership style, this book is for you.

Shades of Doon By: Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon

Shades of Doon is the third book in the Doon Series, and if you enjoyed the first two, you will definitely enjoy this one. With adventure around every corner you will love the continuing adventures of Veronica and McKenna, and with this book you are transported between Doon and the real world.

I’ve always enjoyed the Doon series, with its mix of musical theatre references, scottish accents and a tale woven together by two different authors I am always left impressed. Corp and Langdon have come together to create a seamless story while still having their own voice throughout the story. If you are looking for a good read for your weekend, make sure this one is on your list.

Unoffendable by: Brant Hansen

Mike Donehey may have said it best when he said “this book hurts so good.” Unoffendable is a book that will take the way you respond and what you have thought and turn it on its head in the best way possible. Hansen challenges us that we need to get rid of anger. He states that “forfeighting our right to anger makes us deny ourselves, and makes us others-centered. When we start living this way, it changes everything.”

Brant Hansen has taken simple concepts that are not so simple to live out and challenged us to be unoffendable. To let go of anger and embrace forgiveness. Everyone needs to read this book, it is written simply and as an easy read, but the context is strong and at a level that will challenge you and having you re-reading this book and noticing the things that offend you in the everyday and seeing them differently. This book will change something as basic as being cut off in traffic and you will start seeing and approaching things in a new light.

Read this book.

Remnants: Season of Fire

#2: Remnants: Season of Fire - By: Lisa T. Bergren

Remnants: Season of Fire By: Lisa T. Bergren

It’s officially the release day! So head over to your favorite book dealer and check out Remnants: Season of Fire!

As the second book in the Remnants Series, Season of Fire has a bit of a slow start but from there picks up tremendously. This book is full of adventures and twists with every turn of the page. Season of Fire starts where Season of Wonder left on as we return to the journey of our favorite characters. What I love about this book, is that although we thought we knew these characters already, we have learned more about them and another level of the depth within these characters. Bergren has done amazing in crafting these characters and sharing their hopes, fears and struggles.

I love that this is also a Christian book and that theme echoes through ever page of the story. It isn’t watered down so that people will like it more, the artists shares who she is and her beliefs through this story. I cannot wait for book three! In a time where so many poorly written books with no morals stock the shelves it is great to see such a fun dystopian book.

Believe: Living the Story of the Bible to Become like Jesus

Believe: Living the Story of the Bible to Become like Jesus is a a selection of passages from the New International Version. The book is broken down into sections Think, Act, and Be and focuses on the basics of Christianity. The three sections break down into ‘What do I believe?’ ‘What should I do?’ and ‘Who am I becoming?’ from there they break down into chapters about God, Salvation, Humanity, Worship, Prayer, Offering time, Sharing my Faith, Hope, Patience, and Humility.

Each chapter is back to back passages and verses that support and teach about the theme of the chapter. This book is a good resource for someone that may be overwhelmed by reading the whole Bible but want to understand the basics of Christianity. Each chapter will focus on a main point and use verses and passages from different books in the Bible to support that point. I think that this book is a great resource for those looking to understand better what we believe with biblical evidence to why we believe it.

I recommend this book for anyone that is new to Christianity and even those who have been a Christian for years. It is a great reminder of why we believe what we believe.
